What is pain? Pain is the indicator that some thing needs to change. The vessel becomes emboldened with strength and vitality when faced with stressors. For the muscle to grow stronger, its fibers must first be broken. So, in turn, recognize that the pain you feel is separate from suffering.
Suffering is the decision to contextualize and embody the pain one feels. Such that you may feel pain and zero suffering. A little bit of pain never hurt anybody. The pain of exercise and training can often feel good and rewarding, less so suffering.
When faced with deeper emotional or physical pain, treat it as the indicator that it is, and investigate to find a solution. The pain of a breakup could truly be the pain of abandonment far projected to this new context. It is to treat the pain as any other sense, tactile and a gift. For those who are inflicted with living with zero ability to recognize pain, are numb to the world, themselves, and meaning.
The very gift of life is the consequences of your actions. To feel the break of a hand due to an action, else how do you know it is broken?
Pain gets a bit of an iffy rep. It is to be accepted and dealt with in kind to the indication it provides.
The same way that various mental afflictions are due to a lifestyle incoherent with providing a better outlook, pain is one such indicator that the lifestyle or otherwise immediate context must change.
