Everything within our lives, is a gift. Nothing is guaranteed. For this we have only within our control, our mind. Our principles, and to an extent, our thoughts. Everything outside of that, is also outside of our control. Therefore, we have the responsibility over our mind, and as such have the responsibility to take (or not to take) action that could effect the next present moment. Whether it does or doesn’t is outside our control. However, it follows that if we are to take extreme responsibility, and hold ourselves accountable for everything that directly affects us. Then we remove the burden of being at the mercy to the winds of change. We instead look for actionable solutions to our circumstances rather than blaming our circumstances for our lack of action.
It is a simple switch. If we find ourselves ‘stuck’ in an xyz job for which only brings us down, then it is now our responsibility to fix that, through finding another, sacrificing some sleep to upskill and break out, and any one of many other solutions. If someone irritates us, well firstly, it is our decision to allow ourselves to be irritated, and also our responsibility to fix it. Whether that be by moving into a new environment, or locating and diffusing the root cause of what is actually irritating us.
With extreme responsibility, every circumstance you find yourself in, is your responsibility for that you remain in it. Radical change is always an option. Be intentional.
