Commitment holds one toward their intentioned will for a future moment. Such provides a greater obstacle in revoking their will upon their identity and subsequent actions when the context is forever changing. The fear of this is found in a fear of ‘falling’ into a self that is worse, that in committing, one would find that the new contexts are far more difficult or less than ideal than if such intentioned will was left. It is this barrier to moving past a commitment that makes such an action so powerful and useful. Committing to something when later contexts could possibly cause more harm due to it, is a sure way of ensuring that one follows through on an action to which they know right now, in the moment it is made, must happen in those later contexts, and by making that decision now, they can more often strong-arm their future selves into following the better wishes of the then now past self.

Meditate.
