So they asked an arguably ‘stupid’ question, or they have proceeded to present authority in a field to which they may as well be a patch of grass… Given context, more often we must simply get to roll with it. There are times to be picky and times to allow compromise, especially when the ‘they’ in question, holds the key to something more within your vision. This is within reason, when working with principles, ensure that you are flexible in strategy. Weigh the outcomes on your conscience, and if given that the compromise of a principle can forsake the creation of a battle or war while remaining clear in conscience, then do take that in tow. We stand for our principles where it matters, or are you too, to correct the toddler on their grabbing of a spoon or lack in respect? To lecture the trees on what is an acceptable noise level that is considerate of others? To find the predator and remind them of their duty to care for the less fortunate? Actions from principles that encompass the flexibility of compromise when the conscience is kept intact.
